You can select items either in any way, then add them to a group, then select one item from that group and perform a move operation and it will replicate on to the rest of the items in that group without needing to select the group before that. You can remove just one item from a group with control shift plus G, or select all of the group with shift plus G, in case you need to grow, shrink, delete all of the grouped items or cut or copy them elsewhere. Lastly, there is also an action from the sws extension to toggle auto grouping for newly recorded items. When this is enabled, items will be grouped automatically when recording two or more tracks at the same time.
